Kayla Martell Feldman is an Anglo-American Jewish poet currently based in London. She was a Genesis Poetry Slam winner, and has had work commissioned for JW3, Watch Your Mouth at Holbeck Underground Ballroom in Leeds, Vashti Media, and a podcast by The Narcissist Cookbook. She has featured regularly at Spoken Word London, Extra Second London, Pussy Liquor, and Homos and Houmous, and was invited to take part in the Roundhouse Poetry Weekender, led by Bridget Minamore and Cecilia Knapp. In 2021, she co- founded the Sovereign Writers Group, a collective of six writers who work across stage, screen, poetry, and prose, to share skills and develop new work.
Outside of poetry, Kayla is a writer and
director for stage and screen. She was a Co-
Founder and Co-Artistic Director for Snapper
Theatre, an Associate Producer for Maiden
Speech Festival, and is a regular teacher and
director at Identity School of Acting. She has
also worked as a literary associate for
Abingdon Theatre Company in New York, a
theatre scout for Theatre503, and a script
reader for Hampstead Theatre.
Writing with a focus on themes of identity,
family history, mental illness, and womanhood,
Kayla has taught spoken work poetry
workshops at the Leeds chapter of JLGB and at
Limmud Conference, where she was invited to
present poems this collection in 2019. She
premiered her first spoken word solo show,
HEAR ME OUT, at Maiden Speech Festival,
where it sold out and garnered five star
reviews, later transferring to Camden People’s
Theatre as part of Calm Down, Dear Festival.
